On Sunday 2nd December GIYM was invited to be the supported charity at Halton UK's annual Pro Am.
The day was a great success with 18 amateurs each playing with a pro with the pros consisting of a range of tennis coaches, university players and first team players in a match tie break competition. The 18 pairs were split into 2 groups of 6 with the top 2 from each group progressing into a knock out draw for positions 1 – 6. The 3rd and 4th pair from each group competed for 7th – 12th positions and those finishing 5th and 6th in their group went on to play for 13th- 18th place. The event was played on the indoor courts at Halton and was organised by Mike James, Director of Tennis.
Rhys Hanger, GIYM Tennis Manager, presented at the start of the event before participating in the Pro Am. The day concluded with a raffle including a magnum of champagne, a Babolat bag, tennis lessons and vouchers for the club bar.
Halton UK also very generously agreed to double any funds raised on the day.
Rhys and all at GIYM would like to say a massive thank you to Mike and his Team at Halton UK, and all the participants for being so generous and positive about GIYM and the work that we do.
We look forward to working more closely with Halton in the future.
